What do you do after the child has settled down? Is the problem solved?
When a child has lost complete control of his or her emotions, as can be the case in a temper tantrum, it can be almost impossible to reason or communicate with them. It is not until the child has calmed down that you are able to discuss the reason for the tantrum and deal with the underlying issue(s). What if it doesn’t work the first time I use it?

Also, the child may protest at first, and even bat your hand away, but they just need a few moments to actually inhale the fragrance. Be persistent, but be careful to not cause them more stress.
